Tutorial IV

Abstract -
In this tutorial, I will walk through the steps of modeling, how it happens in the industry and the skills needed to get into the domain. I will cover a broader picture of semiconductor device modeling and families of compact models in general, briefly touch upon some MOSFET basics, and then get into the details of the DC and RF Modeling flows. I will talk about the test structures needed. We'll look at some details of modeling of capacitances, short channel effects, narrow width effects, diodes, and stress effects. Further, I will talk about the RF model extraction flow, where and why it is needed, and how to go about it. Along the way, I will talk about focus areas in an academic setting to get a head start in compact modeling. Lastly, we'll also talk about some statistical components like mismatch and process corners modeling.
